‘Edit’, remember closet space is always limited

First up, take close a look at all your stuff.  Don’t hesitate to get rid of all that is  not in good shape. Profusion of clothing that you haven’t worn for numerous seasons is a big no-no. Consider donating all these excess stuff. Do away with an over-flowing closet to make space for all your existing and new stuff.

‘Re-arrange’, work section by section for better organization

You can streamline your closet in a way that best works for you. Making use of shelf dividers can make this task a breeze. One easy way to get started is to divide your clothing according to-

Season -warm weather and cool weather

Function-work, formal and casual

Once you have these in place, you can further sort them into garment type, i.e. pants, dresses, blouses, skirts, etc. You can also arrange every section by the color of the garment from left to right, i.e. black, blue, brown, red, orange, yellow, ivory, and white.  This doesn’t just make your closet more eye-pleasing, but also helps in easy location of your stuff.

‘Boxes’, these storage pieces are sure to make your closet clutter-free

Closets are not just for holding clothes. When you have to squeeze in shirts, shoes, toys and sweaters all into one space, sturdy, stackable boxes come in handy. Use boxes with clear front for easy access or simply label the boxes with what they contain. Add a little creativity by labeling each box with the pictures of contents.

‘Divide’, break-up your closet space appropriately if you have to share it with someone.
Sharing your closet with a sibling, room-mate or even your spouse can be a dilemma if you haven’t divided the space properly. Simply get a dresser installed in the middle of the closet or use the right mix of shelves, drawers, cubes, rods, hooks and bins to make sure that you don’t intrude into each other’s space. Mix and match storage units to fit your different needs.

‘Storing seasonal items’, protect your garments from moths and other pests

Use high shelves for storing infrequently used items. It is better to tuck away out-of-season clothes in zipped bags or boxes to avoid the pests lurking in them. Make sure that they are dry-cleaned so that you are ready to go when you retrieve them the next time.

There are other points to ponder on as well. Installing mini lights into your closet is a great idea. Clean the inside of the closet and vacuum the storage spaces regularly .It is also very important to maintain the closet organization. A little patience while arranging and taking out stuff will ensure that your closet stays organized with very little effort.
